Murrieta pedestrian, 22, killed while crossing Winchester Road in Temecula

TEMECULA, Calif., — Authorities say a pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a busy Temecula roadway early Saturday morning, Dec. 18.

The victim was crossing Winchester Road west of Margarita Road near the Promenade Mall and was not using a designated crosswalk when the fatal collision occurred, according to officials.

Deputies from the Southwest Sheriff’s Station, Cal Fire – Riverside, and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene around 4 a.m. after receiving reports of a major injury traffic collision involving a pedestrian, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Joey Sinz later reported.

When officials arrived they found a critically injured pedestrian down in the roadway and also located the involved driver, who remained at the scene and was cooperating with the sheriff’s investigation.

Despite life-saving efforts, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries and passed away.

The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office has since identified the victim as Alandre Kent, 22, of Murrieta, as the man killed in the collision. A Coroner’s release indicated he was pronounced deceased at 4:09 a.m.

Accident investigators from the Southwest Sheriff’s Station responded to the location and assumed the investigation.

While Sinz said it was not believed alcohol and/or drug intoxication played a role in this collision, the sheriff’s investigation is ongoing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
