Solo-vehicle crash into parked construction vehicle in Riverside leaves local man, 28, dead
RIVERSIDE, Calif., — Authorities say a motorist was killed in a solo-vehicle traffic accident in Riverside after crashing into a parked construction boom-lift crane early Sunday morning, Feb. 27. The fatal crash happened in the area of Howard Avenue and Tenth Street, according to officials.

City of Riverside police and fire personnel were dispatched to the scene shortly after midnight after receiving reports of a single-vehicle collision involving a parked vehicle.
When officials arrived, they found a 2005 Toyota Camry with major front-end damage that had crashed into a parked boom-lift crane.
Upon closer inspection, officials found the critically injured and unresponsive driver of the Toyota trapped inside his wrecked vehicle.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the scene.
The Riverside County Sheriff – Coroner’s Office has since identified Gerson Cuc Huitz, 26, of Riverside, as the driver killed in the crash. A Coroner’s release indicated he was pronounced deceased at 12:14 a.m.
Officials have not yet ruled out alcohol or drug intoxication as possible contributing factors in the deadly crash and their investigation is continuing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 30 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 18 grandchildren.
