Redding felon’s drug sales arrest marks second drug bust in 11 days – Woman also arrested

REDDING, Calif., — For the second time in less than two weeks a Redding felon, who was already on probation for drug sales, was busted again for fentanyl possession and sales yesterday after a citizen’s tip led officers to an apartment the man shares with a woman, who was also arrested.

According to authorities the man, 31-year-old Dustin Nidever, was arrested just eleven days earlier on April 3, after he was found to be in possession of 7.4 grams of fentanyl. However, he was released within hours of that arrest due to jail overcrowding.

At around 1 p.m. on the afternoon of April 13th, officers from Redding PD’s Neighborhood Police Unit (NPU) received a citizen complaint regarding a drug sales operation they alleged was occurring at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Lake Boulevard, Redding Police Sergeant Timothy Renault reported today.

NPU officers identified Nidever as living at the apartment in question and learned he was living there with 30-year-old Stacy Walters. They also determined that both were responsible for the alleged drug activities at the location.

Dustin Nidever and Stacy Walters were arrested yesterday after a citizen’s tip led Redding PD Neighborhood Police Unit officers to their apartment, where they discovered an ounce of fentanyl, along with methamphetamine, cash, and indicia of ongoing drug sales. Redding PD photos

As their investigation continued, NPU officers contacted Nidever and Walters as they exited their apartment and conducted a PRCS (Post Release Community Supervision) search.

As a result of the search, officers discovered an ounce of fentanyl, approximately 2,500 cash, a small amount of methamphetamine, and other evidence of ongoing narcotics sales, according to Renault.

Based on their investigative findings, officers arrested both Nidever and Walters and both were later booked into the Shasta County Jail in Redding on suspicion of fentanyl sales and other charges. Nidever was also booked for violating the terms of his PRCS probation.

Online jail records indicate both suspects have since been released and are no longer in custody.

However, Renault went on to say that despite the constant turnaround of suspects being booked and then released due to issues beyond the department’s control, “NPU will continue to investigate citizen complaints regarding narcotic dealers in our community.”

Anyone with information regarding this investigation or with information about suspected drug sales in the community is encouraged to contact Redding PD at (530) 225-4200. Callers can refer to incident file number 22R022974 and can remain anonymous.
