Man Fatally Shot During Fight With Deputy at Rancho Mira Loma Park Identified

On Friday, November 13, a suspect was fatally shot after becoming engaged in a physical confrontation with a deputy at the Rancho Mira Loma Park, located in the 3200 block of Wysocki Lane, in the city of Jurupa Valley.

At about 5:00 p.m., a deputy from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Jurupa Valley Police station responded to the park regarding the report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a male suspect. During that contact the suspect began physically fighting with the deputy, at which time an officer involved shooting occurred.

Today, the Riverside County Coroner’s office identified the suspect killed in the fatal confrontation with the deputy as Ernesto Gamino, a 25-Year-old resident of Mira Loma.

According to the coroner’s press release, Gamino was shot at about 5:10 p.m. Gamino was treated at the scene before being transported to the Riverside Community Hospital. The press release further stated Gamino succumbed to his injuries at the hospital at about 5:59 p.m.

In a previous press release from Corporal Robert Martinez wrote, “The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department encourages anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Master Investigator James Merrill at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station at (951) 955-2600 or Investigator Navarette at the Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2777.”

On Friday, November 13, a suspect was fatally shot after becoming engaged in a physical confrontation with a deputy at a Jurupa Valley park.

At about 5:00 p.m., a deputy from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Jurupa Valley Police station responded to the report of a disturbance at the Rancho Mira Loma Park, located in the 3200 block of Wysocki Lane, in the city of Jurupa Valley.

After the deputy’s arrival, while the deputy was investigating the reported disturbance, a physical altercation between the adult male suspect and the deputy occurred. During that physical altercation an officer involved shooting occurred.

Immediately after the shooting the deputy put out an emergency call for priority assistance (11-99/Shots Fired) and requested an ambulance and other emergency first responders to tend to the suspect’s wounds.

The suspect was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel before he was transported to a local hospital. According to Corporal Robert Martinez, of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Media Information Bureau, the suspect succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The deputy, who was also injured during the altercation, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Corporal Robert Martinez, “Investigators from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. This is an active and ongoing case and no further details will be released at this time.  The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave per Department policy. The involved officers’ name will not be released at this time.”

  • Maybe, just MAYBE if these idiots would stop trying to fight with a Sheriff deputy or Police Officer when approached, they might avoid getting shot.

    Why do these guys think that they can win over an armed officer of the law? That is so NOT likely ever going to happen. These jerks are obviously mentally ill to even entertain that thought. All I can think of is that perhaps they are suicidal and figure that suicide by cop gives the cops a bad name. Very warped thought processes going on there.
