SAN JACINTO: San Jacinto Police officers bring some Christmas joy to area children
Trevor Montgomery
On Nov. 23 the San Jacinto Police Department participated in the annual Shop with a Cop event which took place at the San Jacinto Wal-Mart.
The Shop with a Cop program is part of a nationwide partnership between Wal-Mart and the law enforcement community to give back to the communities in which officers serve. This program is a rewarding experience for the officers involved and also has an immeasurable impact on the lives of the families involved, especially the youngest of those involved.
Following Shop with a Cop, San Jacinto Police Department volunteers, Explorers and staff delivered toys to random residential complexes throughout the city of San Jacinto. Children at each location were able to meet law enforcement officers one on one and receive a toy that had been donated.
The entire day was filled with smiles from appreciative parents, joy for the children receiving their unexpected gifts and a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment for the officers involved.
