12 arrested during DUI warrant sweep in Eastvale

EASTVALE – Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Eastvale Police Station arrested 12 subjects during a DUI warrant sweep. Deputies conducted the warrant sweep on January, 23.
“Some think if they just don’t show up for a court hearing, the police won’t have the manpower to come find them. If your violation is a DUI, don’t count on it,” Riverside County Sheriff Sgt. Bill Davis wrote in a press release.
Deputies fanned out into the City of Eastvale with dozens of outstanding arrest warrants in search of high risk DUI offenders. During the warrant sweep, deputies located and arrested 12 offenders who either failed to show up for a court date or who had violated terms of their probation in an outstanding DUI case, according to Sgt. Davis.
“The best bet for anyone with a missed DUI court date is to go to court on their own now,” said Sgt. Davis. “If you don’t, that warrant isn’t going away. We’re going to come find you and take you to jail.”
Those caught in the sweep face additional jail time for failing to appear in court or for violating the terms of their probation. “When family, friends, and co-workers find out, violators can also face personal embarrassment as they are lead away in handcuffs, as well as missing work while sitting in jail,” Sgt. Davis wrote.
DUI warrant service operations coupled with regularly scheduled ‘High Visibility’ DUI enforcement have a deterrent effect on those who disregard driving safety and abuse alcohol and drugs, according to Sgt. Davis.
“Eastvale PD places a high priority on lowering deaths and injury with the goal of removing impaired drivers,” Sgt. Davis wrote, “heightening awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.”
In the press release, Davis explained funding for the operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Sgt. Davis encouraged all citizens to call 911 to report suspected drunk drivers.
