Officers investigating “suspicious death” of Riverside mother of 5

RIVERSIDE – Riverside Police are investigating what they referred to as a “suspicious death,” after a woman was found dead in a Riverside apartment, according to police officials. No information has been released regarding who found the deceased woman, who police described as a mother of five children.

The investigation began on Wednesday, March 30, at about 2:23 p.m., when Riverside Police emergency communications dispatchers received a 911 call about an adult female who was found deceased in her apartment. Riverside police and other emergency first responders rushed to the apartment, located at 3839 Sedgwick Avenue, in Riverside; however they confirmed the woman was no longer alive. She was pronounced dead inside her apartment.

The victim has been identified as Marisol Lam Navarro, 51, of Riverside. “She is a mother of five children and detectives are currently investigating her death as being suspicious in nature,” according to an official press release from the department.

Detectives from the department’s Homicide Unit responded to the apartment and assumed the investigation. The Riverside County Coroner and a Forensic Evidence Unit responded to the scene to assist in the death investigation.
