PERRIS – A skydiver sustained “moderate injuries” on Thursday afternoon, April 21, after suffering what Riverside County Fire/Cal Fire Public Information Officer April Newman described as a “parachute malfunction.” The victim was transported to an area hospital but was expected to survive, according to Newman.

The skydiver reportedly went down at the Perris Airfield, located at 2091 Goetz Road, Perris.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Perris Station, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire personnel and AMR paramedics were first dispatched to the reported air emergency at 1:57 p.m.

Fire officials and emergency personnel soon arrived and immediately began providing medical aid to the skydiver, described only as an adult male. Paramedics later took the man to a local area hospital in a ground ambulance, according to Newman.
