BREAKING: Two car crash in Palm Desert leaves 1 victim trapped

PALM DESERT – Emergency first responders are on scene of a two vehicle traffic collision. The collision occurred on Country Club Drive near Oasis Club Drive in Palm Desert and was first reported at 12:44 p.m., according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer April Newman.

The first arriving unit reported a two vehicle traffic collision with a total of three patients. Based on the circumstances, additional fire resources were called to the location to assist in the extrication and treatment of the three victims.

In all, 20 firefighters from two engine companies and one truck company responded to the accident scene. Additionally, three Riverside County Fire paramedics assisted with the extrication and rescue process.

As of this report, there have been two victims with reported moderate injuries and a third victim suffering from minor injuries.

The victim who sustained minor injuries was reportedly trapped inside one of the two vehicles, requiring extrication from the damaged vehicle. Firefighters reportedly extricated the patient within minutes, according to Newman.

 

Riverside County Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials Support Unit responded to the location to assist in the clean up of an unknown type hazardous liquid that had spilled onto the roadway.
