HEMET – An early morning fire was reported at a home located in the 41600 block of Whittier Avenue, in the unincorporated county area of Hemet. The fire brought an overwhelming response from firefighters and other emergency first responders Friday, May 13, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer Jennifer Fuhrman.

30 firefighters from eight engine companies responded to the blaze that was first reported to Riverside County emergency communications dispatchers at about 3:15 a.m.

The first arriving fire personnel found “a fully involved single story residential structure fire,” Fuhrman wrote in a press release about the incident.

The fire took over two hours to fully contain but was reportedly under control at about 5:24 a.m. According to a press release from Cal Fire, the residence was considered to be a total loss. Fire officials estimated the loss at approximately $80,000.

The residence was found to have been abandoned and no injuries were reported.
