Lakehead domestic violence incident leads to attempted murder charges
LAKEHEAD – Shasta County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Friday, May 13, after he allegedly attempted to murder his wife the previous evening. The man has been accused of repeatedly choking his girlfriend until she lost consciousness. The violent incident occurred on Thursday, May 12, in the 19000 block of Oak Knoll Drive, in Lakehead.
The alleged suspect, identified as Christian Seteroff, fled from the residence the night of the incident. He was arrested the following morning after a brief standoff at the residence, Shasta County Sheriff Sgt. Logan Stonehouse explained in a press release.
The night before the arrest, SHASCOM emergency communications dispatchers received a 911 call at about 9:38 p.m., from a woman reporting that a domestic violence incident had just occurred at her residence. She told dispatchers she had called 911 from her neighbor’s house.
The victim, who was not identified by sheriff’s officials, told dispatchers Seteroff assaulted her several times before she managed to flee from the residence and call 911. The victim told dispatchers she had fled in such a panic after the repeated assaults, she was not able to grab her three-year-old child, who was still inside the residence with Seteroff.
Deputies rushed to the location and located the victim. They then entered the residence to check the welfare of the juvenile and to attempt to locate Seteroff. Deputies quickly determined Seteroff fled the residence prior to their arrival. They located the toddler, who was unharmed and in good health, according to Stonehouse.
Deputies conducted an extensive search of the area; however, they were not able to locate Seteroff that evening.
Deputies conducted an investigation and concluded that Seteroff “assaulted the victim and choked her several times until she lost consciousness, Stonehouse explained. When the victim regained consciousness she reportedly told Seteroff she was going to call the police and report the incident. Seteroff attacked the victim again, choking her while telling her he was going to kill her.
While Seteroff was still attacking the victim, she managed to break free from his grasp and she was able to flee to a neighbor’s residence to call 911.
The following morning, at about 8:15 a.m., deputies went back to the residence to attempt to locate Seteroff. Deputies surrounded the residence and ordered Seteroff to exit the residence. Seteroff initially refused to come out of the house, leading to a tense – but brief – standoff, Stonehouse explained. The standoff lasted about fifteen minutes before Seteroff finally exited the residence. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Deputies arrested Seteroff and he was later booked into the Shasta County Jail for attempted homicide, felony domestic violence, and child endangerment.
