Riverside police arrest two for mail theft, other charges
RIVERSIDE – Two people were arrested by Riverside Police officers during a mail theft investigation, Tuesday, June 14. The pair was reportedly seen breaking into community mailboxes at an apartment complex in the 6000 block of Crest Avenue, in Riverside, according to an official press release from the department.
After a thorough investigation, officers arrested Angel Andrew Arzate, 25, for mail theft, conspiracy, probation violation, and other charges. Magdalena Sanchez, 21 was also arrested for mail theft and numerous other charges. Both are residents of Riverside.
Officers responded to the apartment complex at about 1:10 p.m., after alert and observant citizens called City of Riverside emergency dispatchers to report seeing Arzate and Sanchez breaking into community mailboxes at the complex.
When officers arrived they quickly located and detained the two suspects nearby, in a parking lot at 10324 Arlington Avenue near Tyler Street. Responding officers detained the two subjects for further investigation, according to the press release.

Officers conducted a records check that revealed Arzate was on probation. During a search based on his probation terms, officers discovered Arzate was in possession of stolen mail. Officers learned Sanchez had a warrant for her arrest and she was found to be in possession fo stolen mail.
Officers arrested both alleged suspects and they were booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.
A jail record search revealed Sanchez was booked for six felonies and four misdemeanors; including conspiracy to commit a felony, false impersonation, theft of mail, multiple counts of possession of stolen property, two felony enhancements for state prison priors, and revocation of his probation. He is being held without bail and was scheduled to be arraigned this morning, June 16, at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
Sanchez was booked for 3 felonies and seven misdemeanors, including conspiracy to commit a felony, theft of mail, two counts of false impersonation, multiple counts of possession of stolen property. She was also booked possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia – both charges related to her warrant. She is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail and was scheduled to be arraigned this morning, June 16, at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
