11 weekend holiday incidents and arrests from Riverside PD

“Here are summaries of a few incidents our Riverside Police Officers handled this past 4th of July weekend,” RPD.

FRIDAY

Friday afternoon, July 1, 2016 at about 1:15 p.m., officers contacted five subjects in vacant house located in the 5000 Block of Rose Avenue. One of the subjects was seen getting property out of a car parked inside a detached garage. The car was found to be stolen out of Orange County. After talking to all subjects involved, the officers determined which of the subjects had possession of the car and arrested him. Additional officers responded to the location to assist with records checks of all the subjects and one subject was found to be a runaway juvenile. The officers contacted the juvenile’s parent and returned him to his home. The subject who was determined to be in possession of the stolen vehicle was arrested and booked into jail.

Friday evening, July 1, 2016 at about 8:00 p.m., an officer responded to a subject bothering call in the area of Magnolia Avenue and Polk Street. Upon arrival, the officer contacted a subject and conducted a search. During the search, he located a wallet on the suspect which contained ID cards and other personal identifying information belonging to other individuals. The officer conducted additional investigation which revealed one of the victims’ vehicles had been burglarized earlier in the day. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail.

SATURDAY

Saturday morning, July 2, 2016 at about 2:00 a.m., officers responded to the Ramona Neighborhood regarding a dispute between a boyfriend and girlfriend. Upon arrival, both parties were uncooperative. The male had a cut on his hand and refused to cooperate with the officers’ investigation. When the officers were attempting to detain the male subject, he spit on one them. The subject was placed under arrest and taken to a local hospital to be treated for the injury to his hand, then later booked into the jail.

Saturday morning, July 2, 2016 at about 2:45 a.m., officers stopped a driver who was driving the wrong way near Mission Inn Avenue and Lemon Street. The driver was determined to be driving under the influence, arrested and released to a responsible party.

Saturday morning, July 2, 2016 at about 3:00 a.m., officers responded to a missing person report near the 3700 block of Orange Street. The investigation revealed a female adult was out drinking with her husband and friends and was last seen in a nearby parking structure. The husband believed the female was picked up by a girlfriend, but did not know where the girlfriend lived. At about 8:00 a.m., the officers had located the missing person in the city of San Bernardino safe and unharmed.

Saturday morning, July 2, 2016 at about 8:20 a.m., officers responded to the 4700 Block of La Sierra Avenue to conduct additional investigation regarding a vehicle burglary. Upon arrival, the officers located the suspect and a foot pursuit ensued. The suspect gave up and was taken into custody. During the foot pursuit, the suspect tossed the victim’s wallet and a bag of methamphetamine. He was arrested and booked into jail.

Saturday morning, July 2, 2016 at about 9:30 a.m., officers responded to the Ramona Neighborhood regarding a domestic dispute. While the officers were interviewing the victim, the subject returned to the residence. The subject was taken into custody and found to be in possession of methamphetamine. The investigation revealed the subject had assaulted the victim and choked her unconscious. The subject was arrested and booked into jail.

SUNDAY

Sunday morning, July 3, 2016 at about noon, officers responded to a call near the 8200 Block of Janis Street in reference to a burglary in progress. After a perimeter was established, officers detained a subject who exited the residence. The investigation revealed the subject entered the residence with the intent to commit a burglary, and he was arrested and booked into jail.

Sunday night, July 3, 2016 at about 11:45 p.m., officers were flagged down by a citizen in the area of Madison Street and Indiana Avenue regarding an intoxicated driver that was in the gas station parking lot. The officers pulled into the parking lot and saw the subject nearly hit two vehicles as he tried to leave. The officers activated their lights and sirens and stopped the vehicle. They determined the driver was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and unable to drive a motor vehicle safely. The driver was arrested and booked into jail.

MONDAY

Early Monday morning, July 4, 2016 at about 3:20 a.m., officers located a vehicle driving in the area of La Sierra Avenue and Hole Avenue that was reported stolen. The officers followed the vehicle and waited for additional officers when the solo occupant sped away. A short pursuit ensued and concluded when the driver failed to negotiate a turn and left the roadway. The vehicle came to rest between city streets and the 91 freeway. The driver fled from the vehicle and ran across the freeway, but was apprehended as he attempted to run up the off-ramp on the opposite side of the freeway. The driver arrested and booked into jail.

Monday evening, July 4, 2016 at about 6:15 p.m., officers responded to Andulka Park, located in the 5000 Block of Chicago Avenue, regarding 30 individuals fighting. On arrival, the officers learned one male adult suffered a non-life threatening injury to his face as a result of the fight and had to be transported to the hospital. During the investigation, it was determined six males assaulted the victim and three of them left the park before police arrived. The remaining three suspects were identified and detained. Due to conflicting stories from witnesses, only one primary aggressor was identified and arrested and later booked into jail.
