HEMET – A woman was arrested after an early morning two-vehicle traffic collision Friday, August 26. The accident occurred at the intersection of Sanderson and Stetson Avenues in Hemet.

The wreck between the two vehicles only resulted in minor injures but the two vehicles involved sustained major damage and had to be towed from the location.

Hemet Police officers and other emergency first responders were dispatched to the scene of the traffic collision at 12:57 a.m.

The first officer arrived at the scene of the accident within one minute of the dispatched call. He immediately called for the closure of all southbound traffic on Sanderson Avenue at Tonya and W. Johnston Avenues.

Other officers, fire personnel and paramedics began arriving less than 30 seconds later. In all, at least five officers, two engines companies and one ambulance responded to the accident.

Once at the scene, firefighters and paramedics began evaluating the involved drivers’ injuries, while officers conducted an accident investigation and helped guide slow-moving traffic past the accident scene.

The two involved vehicles were described as a black Chrysler 300 and a gray Ford Ranger. Both sustained major damage.

At about 1:24 a.m. investigating officers requested a blood nurse to respond to the location, indicating that one or both of the drivers were suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or some other intoxicant.

Upon arrival, the blood nurse drew blood from both drivers, to be tested later for the presence of alcohol or drugs.

The driver of the Ford was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

The driver of the Chrysler was arrested at the scene and she was transported to the Hemet Police Station for follow-up investigation.

It was not immediately known why the woman was arrested or if she was booked into jail. Neither of the two involved drivers had been identified as of this report.

Hemet Police officers are conducting an investigation into the cause of the collision. However, it would appear that alcohol or drugs were suspected of being contributing factors into the collision.
