SAN JACINTO: Shots fired forces lock down of 3 schools

SAN JACINTO – Multiple reports of shots fired in the 600 block of North Ramona Boulevard and a subsequent investigation into the shooting incident forced several nearby schools to go on lock down Tuesday, October 11.

San Jacinto High School, Monte Vista Middle School, and San Jacinto Elementary School were all placed on lock down during the initial investigation because of their close proximity to where the shooting occurred, according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Craig McDonald.

As deputies flooded into the area and a sheriff’s helicopter circled overhead – the schools, including Monte Vista Middle School, which was close enough for school administrators to hear the shots fired – began calling the sheriff’s department to inquire about the safety of their students.

As a precautionary measure, deputies called for the lock down of all three nearby schools shortly after the shots fired call was received. The three schools remained on lock down for about 30-45 minutes until Hall was in custody. All three schools had lifted their lock downs shortly after 1 p.m.

Taje Hall was arrested and charged with several weapons related charges after a shooting incident forced the lock down of three San Jacinto schools.

At the end of their investigation, deputies arrested Taje Anjwon Raiqiavin Hall, 21, of San Jacinto for several gun related charges.

The incident began when deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s San Jacinto Police Station responded to numerous 911 calls reporting a violent confrontation between two groups of people and shots being fired within the hallways of an apartment complex at about 12:20 p.m.

By the time deputies arrived the two groups had separated. One of the groups that included Hall had fled from the apartment complex.

Deputies tracked the group Hall was with to a Taco Bell parking lot at the intersection of N. Ramona Boulevard and N. State Street.

During their investigation deputies learned Hall had fired several shots from a shotgun inside an apartment complex during a domestic dispute. Deputies located and recovered a shot-gun and expended ammunition at the scene.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

Hall was booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, negligent discharge of a firearm, and negligent discharge of a firearm in a school zone.

He is being held in lieu of $10,000.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to call Deputy Trejo at (951) 654-2702. Callers can refer to incident file number I162850048 and can remain anonymous. Citizens may also submit a tip using the Sheriff’s CrimeTips online form.
