RIVERSIDE: Officers investigating stabbing at party witness shooting of 4

RIVERSIDE – Officers investigating an earlier reported stabbing witnessed the shooting of four people at a large party Friday, Oct. 28. The stabbing and shooting of four occurred at a commercial building in the 3500 block of Madison Avenue in the City of Riverside.

The incident began just before midnight when Corona Police Officers witnessed a stabbing victim being dropped off at the Corona Regional Medical Center. After dropping off the victim the vehicle fled from the hospital. The officers were able to locate the vehicle and they detained the occupants for further investigation.

A Riverside Police officer responded to the hospital to investigate the stabbing and interview the victim. The officer learned the victim was stabbed during a fight at a party in a Riverside commercial building.

While officers were trying to locate the crime scene at the business complex shortly after 1 a.m., a 911 complaint came in to dispatchers reporting a loud party at the same location. As the officers approached the building on foot, they saw a shooting take place. While requesting additional assistance, the officers heard more gunfire and located four gunshot victims. Officers secured the scene and safely detained 75 to 100 party-goers.

Paramedics responded to the commercial building where the shooting occurred to render first aid to the victims. After treating the four shooting victims at the scene, AMR medics transported them to local area hospitals for further treatment.

While searching inside the business where the stabbing and subsequent shootings happened officers located five handguns hidden inside the building. Officers determined three of the handguns were reported stolen. Officers also located evidence related to the original stabbing.

The suspects in the shooting and stabbing were not located. The investigation into the two separate incidents is active and ongoing and follow-up investigation will be conducted by detectives.

All five victims are expected to survive their injuries.
