EASTVALE: Man arrested with handgun and narcotics
EASTVALE – A Jurupa Valley resident was arrested with a loaded gun and narcotics after a deputy conducted an occupied vehicle check in Eastvale Friday, Oct. 28.
The arrest happened after a deputy from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Eastvale Police Station was proactively searching for suspicious activity in the parking lot of the Eastvale Gateway Shopping Center in Eastvale at about 10:30 a.m., according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Christian Dekker.
While searching for possible criminal activity, the deputy spotted a male acting suspiciously in a parked vehicle. The deputy observed the man, who was later identified as Jesus A. Vasquez Jr., 52, of Jurupa Valley, appeared to avoiding detection by the deputy, Dekker explained in a press release about the incident and arrest.
The deputy contacted Vasquez and detained him for further investigation. During their interaction, the deputy determined Vasquez was in possession of a loaded firearm and narcotics for sale.
Based on the recovered weapon and narcotics, the deputy arrested Vasquez. He was later booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for suspicion of being a felon in possession of weapon, being a felon in possession of ammunition, being a felon under the influence while in possession of a loaded firearm, and possession of methamphetamine for sales.
“The Eastvale Police Department is committed to the safety of the residents of Eastvale and remains vigilant in combating criminal activity,” Dekker wrote about the arrest.
A jail records search revealed Vasquez was being held in lieu of $110,000 bail and he is scheduled to be arraigned at the Riverside Hall of Justice Tuesday, Nov. 1.
