RIVERSIDE: Gunshot victim dies after being dumped in hospital parking lot
RIVERSIDE – A man was pronounced dead after his lifeless body was dropped off in a parking lot near the emergency room at Riverside Community Hospital Saturday, Nov. 5.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending the Coroner’s investigation and notification of the man’s family.
Riverside police officers responded to the hospital to conduct an investigation at 2:37 a.m., after a Hispanic male adult was found in the parking lot next to the emergency room.
Hospital staff told investigating officers they had seen a dark-colored sedan drive into the lot, where a rear-seat passenger pulled the unresponsive man out of the rear seat. The vehicle was last seen speeding away towards 14th Street, according to police officials.
Hospital staff found the victim was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and they immediately began to administer medical aid. The victim was brought into the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
During their investigation, officers located a crime scene near Kansas Avenue and Georgia Street, that they believed was related to the homicide.
Detectives from the department’s Robbery – Homicide Unit, Gang Intelligence Unit, and evidence technicians from the Forensic Unit responded and assumed the investigation. The Riverside County Sheriff – Coroner’s Office assisted detectives in their investigation.
