UPDATED: Man struck by train remains unidentified

RIVERSIDE – A man was killed when he was struck by a train Friday, Dec. 2. The fatal accident happened near Tyler Avenue and Indiana Avenue in Riverside.

Riverside Police and Fire Departments responded to the accident about 8:53 a.m., after receiving reports of a pedestrian that was struck by a BNSF train.

The pedestrian sustained major traumatic injuries in the accident. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Riverside Fire Department officials. The identity of the deceased remains unknown at this time, according to police authorities.

BNSF Railroad officials responded to the scene to conduct an investigating the fatal incident.

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.

Trevor has been married for more than 26 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 12 – soon to be 13 – grandchildren.
