MECCA: Man arrested after exposing himself to minor

MECCA – Deputies arrested a man after he allegedly exposed himself to a minor Friday, Dec. 16. The incident and arrest happened in the area of the 91000 block of 3rd Street in Mecca.

Martin Bautista was arrested after he allegedly exposed himself to a minor.

After an investigation, deputies arrested Martin Barajas Bautista, 49, of Mecca. He was booked into the Indio County Jail for indecent exposure, exposing himself to a minor, and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

The investigation began at 8:16 a.m., when deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Thermal station, responded to a 911 call from a boy reporting a male subject that had exposed himself inappropriately to the child, according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Paul Heredia.

Deputies arrived within minutes and located the suspect. After an investigation, deputies arrested Bautista without incident.

The investigation is active and ongoing. Sheriff’s officials are seeking additional victims to similar crimes and have asked that anyone else who was victimized by Bautista to step forward.

A jail record search revealed Bautista is being held in lieu of $5000 bail and he is expected to be arraigned at the arson Justice Center in Indio Dec. 20.
