SAN JACINTO: House damaged by runaway car

SAN JACINTO – A house and car sustained major damage when a sedan smashed into a home in the 300 block of W. Main Street near S. Santa Fe Avenue in San Jacinto Thursday, Dec. 15. The accident was reported shortly before 2 p.m.

The driver of the car was transported to a local area hospital with complaints of shoulder pain. Nobody from inside the home was injured when the car crashed into the home.

San Jacinto Fire and Police Departments and AMR medics responded to the scene of the accident. When they arrived, emergency first responders found a Honda Civic that had smashed backwards into the residence.

The driver of the Honda told investigating officers they were backing their car when the accelerator stuck, causing the car to accelerate out of control backwards into the residence.

W. Main Street was closed to through traffic while emergency medical personnel evaluated the driver of the car that had lost control. The roadway was re-opened within an hour.

It was not immediately known if alcohol or drug intoxication were contributing factors in the accident.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s San Jacinto Police station are investigating the cause of the accident.

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.

Trevor has been married for more than 26 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 12 – soon to be 13 – grandchildren.
