BEAUMONT: Detectives investigating infant’s death

BEAUMONT – Detectives are investigating the death of an infant that died unexpectedly at a Beaumont hospital Wednesday, Jan. 11.

The investigation began about 10 a.m., after City of Beaumont emergency dispatchers received a call from the San Gorgonio Medical Center reporting the death of an infant.

“At this time, the cause of death is undetermined and officials have ordered an autopsy,” a police official explained in a press release about the incident.

Neither the infant’s or the parents names have been released yet. The family reportedly resides in Beaumont.

Hospital staff reported to dispatchers that an infant had been transported to the Hospital’s Emergency Department by the victim’s family.

“Unfortunately, medical intervention and life saving measures were unsuccessful and the infant died at the hospital,” the press release explained. “Beaumont Police Department Detectives responded to investigate the circumstances leading up to the child’s death.”

Officials from the Riverside County Coroner’s Office and Riverside County District Attorney’s Office were notified and responded to the hospital to assist with the investigation.

This investigation is ongoing and no other details are being released at this time.

This is a developing story. Additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
