SAN JACINTO: Deputies investigating attempted theft of ATM machine
SAN JACINTO – Sheriff’s officials are investigating the attempted theft of an ATM machine from a business in the 100 block of S. Sanderson Avenue in San Jacinto. The early-morning attempted theft happened Tuesday, Feb. 21.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s San Jacinto Police station responded to the report of a commercial burglary about 12:48 a.m., according to Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Vance Stolte.
Deputies searched the area for the suspects but were unable to locate them.
During their investigation, deputies determined two men, who were both wearing ski masks and gloves, “backed a box truck up to the front of the business, smashed the glass front doors and entered the business,” Stolte explained. “Once inside, they tied a chain to the ATM machine and attempted to remove it from the business.”
Despite their efforts, the suspects were not able to remove the ATM machine from the business.
The suspects fled the area in the truck before deputies arrived in the area.
The investigation into the burglary and attempted theft is active and ongoing.
