CORONA: Officials seek help identifying theft suspect

CORONA – City of Corona police officials are seeking the public’s help identifying a man who allegedly stole a victim’s laptop from the Corona Public Library March 15.

Corona police officials are seeking the public’s assistance identifying a man who allegedly sole a laptop from the Corona Public Library.

Officials described the suspect as a black male adult, 6 feet tall and 160 pounds. Surveillance video showed the man carrying a black book bag or backpack over his right shoulder.

The investigation began when Corona police officers responded to the library about 4:15 p.m., after the victim called 911 to report the theft of his laptop.

The victim told investigating officers he had set his laptop on a desk and momentarily stepped away. When the victim stepped away from his laptop, the suspect, who can be seen in the video below, picked up the laptop and fled from the location.

During their investigation, officers obtained surveillance video footage from the library that showed the alleged suspect leaving the library with the stolen laptop.

Trevor Montgomery spent 10 years in the U.S. Army as an Orthopedic Specialist before joining the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1998. He was medically retired after losing his leg in an off-duty accident.
