MEAD VALLEY: Driver injured, extensive extrication required, after vehicle smashes into tree

MEAD VALLEY – Details are still emerging after a driver was left trapped inside their mangled vehicle after the victim smashed into a tree Friday, March 17. The accident happened on Harvill Avenue, south of Dree Circle in the unincorporated area of Mead Valley.

Firefighters had to perform extensive extrication to free the victim, who officials have not identified.

California Highway Patrol officers, CAL FIRE/Riverside County firefighters, and other emergency first responders were dispatched to the collision about 7:21 a.m., after other motorists called 911 to report the accident.

Fifteen firefighters from two engine companies and one truck company responded to the wreck, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Public Information Officer April Newman.

When they arrived, rescue personnel found a vehicle that had plowed into a tree, leaving the victim trapped.

Firefighters found “one victim trapped, requiring extended extrication,” Newman explained.

The extent of the victim’s injuries were not disclosed and no other information was available regarding the crash.

CHP officials are investigating the cause of the accident.
