EAST HEMET – A man who had a felony warrant for assault with a deadly weapon was captured and arrested after he ran from deputies who were investigating reports of a domestic dispute Sunday, March 26.

The incident, that began in the 41300 block of Sequoia Lane in the unincorporated area of East Hemet, led to a long search for the suspect; with deputies responding from as far away as the sheriff’s Cabazon Station.

Clarence Taylor was arrested after fleeing from deputies during a domestic violence investigation.

Deputies later determined that in addition to the felony warrant, the man, who was identified as Clarence Jaquil Taylor, 23, of San Jacinto, was also wanted for questioning in a domestic violence related incident from the night before, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Santiago Agcaoili explained in a written press release after the incident and arrest.

Sunday’s incident began when a deputy from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Hemet Station responded to the residence regarding a domestic dispute about 9:34 a.m.

“The suspect ran from the deputy,” Agcaoili wrote. “Law enforcement personnel from Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Aviation Unit, San Jacinto Police Department, Cabazon Sheriff’s Station and Hemet Sheriff’s Station assisted with containing and apprehending the uncooperative suspect.”

Taylor was apprehended on Mc Dowell Street, less than one half mile from where the incident began.

Authorities arrested Taylor and he was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility.

An online jail records search revealed including his warrant, Taylor was booked on suspicion of preventing or dissuading a witness, resisting arrest, false imprisonment, two counts of felony assault resulting in great bodily injury, spousal abuse, violating a domestic violence restraining order and petty theft.
