UPDATE: EASTVALE: Eastvale resident struck, killed while walking along Hamner Ave. ID’d

UPDATE: April 13, 3 a.m.

Coroner officials have identified the pedestrian who died when she was struck by a motorist on Hamner Avenue south of Amberhill Avenue in Eastvale.

The woman was identified as Janine Chavez, 28, of Eastvale. She was pronounced dead at 7:54 p.m., ten minutes after she was struck while walking on Hamner Avenue.

Officials have not released any other information about this accident and investigation.

The deadly collision is still under investigation.

EASTVALE – Details are still emerging after a 28-year-old, Eastvale resident died when she was struck by a car Tuesday, April 11. The fatal accident happened on Hamner Avenue south of Amberhill Avenue in Eastvale.

Emergency first responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident about 7:44 p.m., after several people called 911 to report the vehicle versus pedestrian accident.

When they arrived, medical personnel determined the pedestrian had sustained major traumatic injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, the woman succumbed to her injuries and she was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Officials have not released the name of the victim, pending notification of her family.

During their investigation, deputies determined a Honda Accord, being driven by a 51-year-old, male resident of Ontario, was traveling south on Hamner Avenue when his car struck the pedestrian as she was walking in the roadway.

Officials have not released any other information about this incident and investigation, which is active and ongoing.
