The Thursday, Sept. 14, incident and arrest happened on the 18000 block of Grand Avenue in the unincorporated community of Lakeland Village.

Different witnesses later reported seeing the man alternately in front of or near the Lakeland Village Middle School, at a bus stop directly outside the wrought iron perimeter fence surrounding the LakeHills Community Church and/or walking along Grand Avenue between the two locations.

After an investigation, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Lake Elsinore Station arrested Roberto Martinez, 22. Martinez resides in “the Lake Elsinore area,” Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Luke Torres explained in a written press release. Martinez was booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of indecent exposure.

An online jail records search revealed Martinez was released within hours of his arrest, after he received a citation to appear at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta, Nov. 14.

Deputies were dispatched to the area about 7:54 a.m., after Riverside County emergency dispatchers were notified that Martinez was sitting naked at the bus stop.

“The reporting party indicated the suspect was sitting on a bus bench completely nude, as citizens were walking and driving past,” said Torres. When deputies arrived they located Martinez and took the naked man into custody without incident.

Officials did not specify if they located Martinez’ clothing nearby or where the man allegedly got undressed prior to sitting at the bus bench. It was not immediately known if any RTA buses had stopped or passed by while Martinez waited at the bus stop.

Anyone with additional information is urged to call Riverside County Sheriff’s dispatch at (951) 776-1099, or the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station at (951) 245-3300. Callers can refer to incident file number F172570011 and can remain anonymous.
