During their investigation, Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit investigators developed leads and gathered information that led them to a nearby Arco gas station where they found closed-circuit security camera footage showing the vehicle wanted in connection with the murder, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Jeff Buompensiero explained in a written press release.

Buompensiero described the vehicle as a light-colored, four-door Honda Civic with dark-colored rims. The car was filmed pulling up to and parking near the pumps at the gas station.

The Arco is about two and one half miles from the neighborhood where the fatal shooting happened.

Officials have not specified the role the car played and have simply referred to it as a “vehicle of interest.”

The homicide investigation began about 9:48 p.m., when deputies responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon occurring at a home. Multiple 911 callers also reported hearing shots fired in the area.

When deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Jurupa Valley Police Station and other emergency first responders arrived at the residence, they found a Hispanic male who has sustained multiple gunshot injuries.

The teen was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The victim’s name has not been released due to his age.

Based on the circumstances, investigators from the Jurupa Valley Station and Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation.

As of Oct. 30, no suspects had been arrested and the homicide investigation is active and ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding the Honda is encouraged to contact Investigator Paz from the Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2195. Callers can refer to incident file number JV172370172 and can remain anonymous. Citizens may also submit a tip using the Sheriff’s Homicide Tipline online form.
