MORENO VALLEY: Motorcyclist killed in traffic collision with pickup truck

MORENO VALLEY — A motorcyclist died after being involved in a collision with a vehicle at the intersection of Sunnymead Ranch Parkway and Lake Vista Road in Moreno Valley, early Friday evening, Dec. 1.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Police Station, Moreno Valley Fire Department personnel and AMR medics responded to the intersection shortly after 5 p.m., after emergency dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a major injury traffic collision, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Jaime Hernandez explained after the deadly accident.

Officials arrived within minutes and discovered a vehicle had collided with a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist sustained major, traumatic injuries and was immediately transported by paramedics to a local hospital for treatment. He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

The name of he victim has not been released, pending notification of the victim’s family.

“The driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries and remained at the scene of the collision,” said Hernandez. “It is unknown if alcohol and drugs were a contributing factor to this collision.”

Based on the circumstances, members of Moreno Valley PD’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded and assumed the investigation.

While officials worked at the scene they called for the temporary, full closure of both north and southbound lanes of travel on Sunnymead Ranch Parkway, between Via Pavon and Via Del Norte.

The road was expected to be re-opened about 10 p.m.

The investigation into the cause of the collision is active and ongoing.

Trevor has been married for more than 27 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 14 grandchildren.
