MORENO VALLEY: Officials identify Moreno Valley man killed in motorcycle accident
MORENO VALLEY — A Moreno Valley motorcyclist was found dead after apparently crashing his motorcycle, early Sunday morning, Jan. 14. The fatal accident happened on Wordsworth Road south of Seneca Elementary School, between Dickinson and Morton Roads, in Moreno Valley.
Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s officials later identified 31-year-old, Joshua Poss, as the man killed in the solo-vehicle accident. Although officials have not determined what time the accident happened, coroner’s officials listed Poss’ time of death as 1:29 a.m., the time officials arrived at the scene of the deadly crash.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Police Station and other emergency first responders were dispatched to the area about 1:19 a.m., after receiving a 911 call from a person who happened to come upon the accident scene and found Poss’ lifeless body.
When they arrived officials confirmed the motorcyclist, who was later identified as Poss, had suffered “traumatic injuries” in the accident and had already succumbed to his injuries. Officials pronounced him dead at the scene.
Based on the circumstances members of Moreno Valley PD’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Tony Hoxmeier explained in a written press release.
During their investigation officials determined Poss had been travelling southbound on Wordsworth Road, south of Dickinson Road, “when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a curb,” said Hoxmeier. “The impact with the curb caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the motorcycle.”
While officials were investigating the crash, they called for the temporary closure of Wordsworth Road, between Dickinson and Morton Roads. The roadway was re-opened at the conclusion of the deputies’ initial accident investigation about four hours later.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation or who witnessed the collision is urged to immediately contact Deputy Seguin at the Moreno Valley Police Department at (951) 486-6900. Callers can refer to incident file number MV180140016 and can remain anonymous. Citizens may also submit a tip using the Sheriff’s CrimeTips online form.
