REDDING: Pair killed when motorcycle loses control, struck by SUV

REDDING — Officials are investigating after two people died when their motorcycle lost control on a sweeping curve and was struck by an SUV, Sunday evening, Feb. 4. The deadly accident happened near the intersection of Quartz Hill Road and Keswick Dam Boulevard, in Redding.

Emergency first responders were dispatched to the scene of the deadly wreck about 6 p.m., after they were notified regarding the accident.

When they arrived, officials found a wrecked motorcycle and a damaged SUV with two motorcycle riders nearby. Both the driver and rider of the motorcycle had sustained major, traumatic injuries.

The driver of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries and medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene. His passenger was rushed to Mercy Medical Center for life-saving measures, but she later died from injuries she suffered in the collision.

Coroner’s officials later identified 33-year-old, Jesse Lee Quaid and 36-year-old, Kristionna Anne Quaid as the pair killed in the crash. Both were Redding residents. It was not immediately known how the pair was related.

California Highway Patrol investigated the cause of the fatal accident determined the SUV driver struck the motorcycle when the motorcycle driver lost control of his motorcycle while going through a sweeping curve in the road. Neither the 41-year-old SUV driver or a 2-year-old passenger of the SUV were injured in the collision.

The collision remains under investigation by CHP.

Trevor has been married for more than 27 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 14 grandchildren.
