City of Hemet Police and Fire personnel along with other emergency first responders were dispatched to the scene of the wreck about 4:15 p.m., after multiple people called 911 to report the accident.

When officials arrived they found two vehicles with minor collision damage. One of the vehicles, described as a silver Nissan sedan was on the front yard of a residential property and the other vehicle, a white Ford pickup truck, was stopped nearby.

Paramedics evaluated those involved in the crash and determined none of the involved parties had been injured.

Officers who investigated the collision determined the Ford pickup had been traveling southbound on S. Harvard Street while the Nissan had been heading eastbound on W. Acacia Avenue. When the driver of the truck stopped at the intersection and began to pull forward, the front of the pickup truck collided with the driver’s side of the Nissan.

The impact caused the sedan to lose control and the car jumped a curb and came to rest in a front yard, narrowly missing mashing into a fire hydrant and telephone pole.

The driver of the truck later told officers they had not been able to see the Nissan because of westbound traffic on Acacia Avenue, which was backed up at the intersection with evening commuters.

The accident caused traffic at the intersection to back up for several blocks in all directions until the damaged vehicles were towed or driven from the scene.
