MENIFEE: Officials conducting death investigation after body found in parked SUV

MENIFEE — Authorities have released little information other than to confirm they are conducting a death investigation after a man’s body was found inside a parked vehicle Thursday, Feb. 15. According to witnesses, the white SUV the man was found in was parked in the Stater Bros Markets parking lot, southeast of the intersection of Newport and Menifee Roads, in Menifee.

Deputies assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Menifee Police Station responded to the parking lot, after receiving a call from a person who found the man’s lifeless body about 5:30 p.m. It was not immediately known if the 911 caller worked at the market or was a customer.

Deputies who responded to the scene confirmed the man was deceased and summoned investigators, crime scene technicians and other necessary officials to the location.

Officials confirmed they were conducting a death investigation the evening of the discovery, but have not released any further details. Sheriff-Coroner’s officials have not yet released the victim’s name, although the victim’s family has been notified.

In a comment thread on Menifee 24/7’s Facebook page a woman who identified herself as the victim’s mother thanked those who had provided kind words and been supportive, while reminding those with no first-hand knowledge of the circumstances that “you have no clue what people are going through.”

The Sheriff’s investigation is ongoing.

This is a developing story that will be updated as more information is made available.
