Emergency first responders were dispatched to the intersection just after midnight, after they were notified regarding the collision.

When officials arrived at the scene they located a black Ford Expedition against a traffic signal. The SUV was fully engulfed in flames and it appeared the vehicle was unoccupied.

While firefighters began extinguishing the blaze, deputies eventually located the driver nearby. The man did not have any visible injuries, but his gait appeared unsteady and he had difficulty standing or walking without assistance.

AMR medics eventually transported the man to Hemet Valley Hospital where he was evaluated and treated for minor injuries and complaints of pain.

Officials are still working to determine if the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the collision and their investigation is active and ongoing.
