City of Hemet Police and Fire personnel along with other emergency first responders were dispatched to the location about 1:30 p.m., after receiving reports of a single-vehicle traffic collision.

Callers told City of Hemet emergency dispatchers a man wearing a blue shirt had been driving the car and did not appear to be injured.

When officials arrived they found a black Ford Mustang that had jumped a curb, run over an above ground telephone utilities box and crashed through a chain link fence. The vehicle came to rest mere feet from a wood fence and a home with a camping trailer in front of it.

According to a witness, after the accident a person who identified herself as the driver’s aunt came from a home across the street and asked the witness to lie and say she had been driving the Mustang and crashed it. When officers arrived, the woman then reportedly told officials she crashed the car after losing control.

Despite the woman’s request, when officers interviewed the man who witnessed the accident, he told officials the woman had not been driving the car and they directed authorities to the true driver.

Officers then made contact with the man callers originally reported seeing get out from the driver’s seat of the Mustang after the crash.

Officers who interviewed the man determined he was intoxicated and arrested him for driving under the influence. He was then transported to Hemet PD’s jail.

Nobody was injured in the accident.
