JURUPA VALLEY: One detained after man and dog stabbed during street-side fight

JURUPA VALLEY — A person has been detained for questioning after a man and his dog were stabbed during a street-side altercation earlier this afternoon at the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Packard Avenue in Jurupa Valley. Both victims were taken for emergency medical treatment and despite their stab injuries the pair are expected to survive.

Deputies assigned to the Jurupa Valley Police Station and other emergency first responders were dispatched to the intersection shortly before 1:50 p.m., after receiving reports of a fight and stabbing, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Julio De Leon explained in a written press release.

When the deputies arrived they learned a man and dog had been stabbed during a fight with another man. The injured victim and his dog were no longer at the scene, but deputies located and detained a male nearby who had reportedly been involved in the fight and stabbings.

Deputies eventually located the male stabbing victim at a local hospital and found the dog at an area veterinary hospital. Both were receiving treatment for stab wounds.

Deputies transported the alleged suspect to the Jurupa Valley Police Station where he is being interviewed by investigators, according to De Leon.

“Both stabbing victim and dog sustained knife wounds, but they are both expected to survive,” the sgt. explained; and the investigation is ongoing.
