CORONA: Man driving Corvette was recklessly speeding, passing illegally, just before wreck: CHP
CORONA — A reckless driver in a Corvette who officials say was speeding, dangerously cutting off other motorists, and illegally crossing the double yellow lines lost control of his vehicle and wrecked into a ditch, Wednesday morning, June 6. The accident happened on Cajalco Road near La Sierra Avenue in an unincorporated part of Corona near Lake Matthews.
The injured man had to be cut free from his vehicle and was hospitalized with moderate injuries after the single-vehicle wreck, according to officials.
California Highway Patrol, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire, City of Corona Fire, along with AMR and other emergency first responders were dispatched to the accident just before 8:50 a.m., after other motorists and witnesses called 911 to report the crash.
When officials arrived they found the wrecked sports car with an older white male trapped inside the mangled wreckage of the vehicle in a ditch along the side of Cajalco Road.
Firefighters used the “Jaws of Life” to cut the car away so they could pull the injured man from his destroyed vehicle, before AMR transported the victim by ground ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.
According to California Highway Patrol, just before the accident the driver of the Corvette was seen cutting people off and crossing the double yellow moments before he lost control of the vehicle and crashed in the ditch.
CHP is investigating the cause of the wreck and their investigation is ongoing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 27 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 14 – soon to be 15 – grandchildren.
