Deputies assigned to the Perris Police Department were dispatched to the neighborhood shortly after 5:30 a.m., after receiving a 911 call reporting a man down, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Ben Ramirez explained as the investigation was getting underway.

When they arrived, deputies found a man “suffering from several gunshot wounds,” said Ramirez.

Officials determined the man had already succumbed to his injuries and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Deputies established a crime scene, cordoning off the area with yellow crime scene tape. Perris Station investigators began  interviewing area residents, searching for anyone in the neighborhood who might have seen or heard the shooting as well as anyone who might be able to identify the victim.
