REDDING: Suspicious device detonated at Clover Creek Preserve

REDDING: Authorities responding to reports of a suspicious device within the Clover Creek Preserve safely detonated the object, Friday, June 22. After an investigation, officials determined the device had been stolen during a residential burglary.

City of Redding police officers were dispatched to the area of Shasta View Dr. and Saturn Skyway along the walking trail of the Clover Creek Preserve just before 7:45 a.m., after a citizen called Shascom regarding a suspicious device, located.

When officers arrived, they located the device approximately 100 yards east of Shasta View Dr. Officers established a safe perimeter around the device, and requested assistance from Shasta County’s Bomb Squad.

Bomb Squad members rendered the item safe and determined it to be discarded personal property.

During their subsequent investigation, officials learned the item was property taken during an earlier residential burglary.

During his time with the sheriff’s department, Trevor worked at several different stations, including Robert Presley Detention Center, Southwest Station in Temecula, Hemet/Valle Vista Station, Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center and Lake Elsinore Station, along with other locations.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 27 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and has 13 children and 14 – soon to be 15 – grandchildren.
