ANDERSON: Missing, “at-risk,” 63-year-old located in Happy Valley

ANDERSON — Authorities have reported that an “at-risk” missing 63-year-old man has been located safe and returned home. The man was considered at risk due to suffering from dementia and a previous brain injury.

The man, identified by Shasta County Sheriff’s officials as John Douglas Morgan, was last seen by family members at his home on Acero Dr., southeast of China Gulch Dr. and Oak St., Thursday morning, at around 10:45 a.m.

Morgan’s family reported him missing shortly after 6 p.m., Thursday night. Despite a search by deputies on the ground and CHP from above, officials were unable to locate the missing man that evening.

Morgan was found the next morning after officials received reports of someone yelling for help from a ravine in the area of Reel Way and High Valley Road, in the Happy Valley area west of Anderson.

After being located, Morgan was checked out by medical personnel, and determined to be uninjured. He was later returned home to his family.

Officials have not released any further information regarding their investigation.
