California Highway Patrol, Cal Fire, and other emergency personnel responded to the area about 4:22 p.m., after they received a 911 call from an area resident notifying them about a crash involving a quad. The 911 caller told SHASCOM emergency dispatchers two males were seriously injured and unresponsive in a ditch with a wrecked quad nearby.
About 15 minutes later a CHP helicopter arrived in the area and reported locating the two injured riders. According to a CHP incident log, aviation crew members reported the victims sustained “possible major injuries” and requested a REACH Air Ambulance to the scene.
Shortly after 5 p.m., CHP’s incident log indicated the air ambulance had picked up the two victims, both of whom sustained “major facial and head injuries.” The victims were flown to Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
Officials have not released any information regarding their accident investigation and the current condition of the two victims are not known.
