The investigation began about 8:30 p.m., after deputies assigned to the Hemet Sheriff’s Station responded reports  of an assault with a deadly weapon, Riverside Sheriff’s Sergeant Chris Willison explained after Greene’s arrest.

When deputies arrived they found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to Willison. The victim, whose name has not been released, was rushed to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and remains in intensive care after undergoing surgery, according to friends and family members.

“Deputies canvassed the area and were unable to immediately locate the suspect” that evening, said Willison.

As their investigation continued on Aug. 23, about 5 p.m., deputies located Greene hiding on a property in the 25800 block of Highway 243. Based on their investigation, he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon as well as his out of county warrant.

Officials have not specified what led to the stabbing or if there was a known motive.
