“Lazaro-Valencia has an outstanding warrant for his arrest and investigators are actively looking for him,” said Brosche, who explained deputies assigned to Perris Police Station were dispatched to the area at 1 a.m., after receiving a report of the shooting.

When officials arrived they located a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as Arturo Angel, a 26-year-old from Perris, succumbed to his injury and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials quickly began establishing a crime scene and were later observed going door to door, searching for potential witnesses or anyone who could shed light on the deadly incident and what led to it.

Based on the circumstances, Perris PD and Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit investigators responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. They were assisted by members of the Sheriff’s Forensic Services Bureau, who were later seen documenting, photographing, and collecting evidence.

Much of the morning’s investigation centered around a dark blue Kia SUV, believed to be the vehicle where the victim’s lifeless body was discovered.

According to sources familiar with the investigation, Lazaro-Valencia was last seen leaving a Perris bar about an hour after the murder. He was reportedly driving a black Ford F-150 and armed with a handgun.

Perris PD’s investigation is ongoing and according to Brosche, no further information will be released at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation or who knows Lazaro-Valencia’s whereabouts is encouraged to call Detective Salisbury with the Perris Police Department at (951) 210-1001 or Detective Mullins with the Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2777.
