911 callers reported an SUV had plowed into the back of a small passenger vehicle and that the impact caused the SUV to overturn and sent the smaller car careening off the roadway.

Callers also reported the driver of the SUV was trapped inside the mangled wreckage of the SUV.

Another vehicle, described as a light-colored Toyota Sequoia was also somehow involved.

When officials arrived at the scene they found a black Lincoln MKX on its wheels on the north side of the roadway and a silver NIssan Cube in the dirt median of the center divider.

The Lincoln had sustained major damage and its roof was caved in and the Nissan sustained major rear-end damage. A Toyota with moderate rear end damage was also at the scene, pulled off along the north side of the parkway.

The wreck caused the westbound lanes of Domenigoni to quickly back up, as witnesses and good Samaritans stopped and attempted to render aid to the victims of the wreck.

According to a CHP incident log, the trapped driver of the Lincoln was pulled from the vehicle shortly after 8 a.m.

As of this report, it was not known if anyone was injured in the crash or transported for further treatment and CHP has not yet released any information regarding the accident or their investigation, which is active and ongoing at the scene.

This is a developing story that will be updated as new information is available.
