CHP, Murrieta PD, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire, and other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the crash shortly before 8:30 a.m., after receiving reports of an accident involving a white, 20 foot box truck and burgundy, Toyota RAV 4. 911 callers also reported the roadway was blocked by the wrecked vehicles and that diesel fuel was spilling into the roadway from the heavily damaged box truck.

Cal Fire arrived at the scene within minutes and reported finding the two wrecked vehicles with vehicle parts and debris scattered across the roadway.

Officials at the scene soon called for the temporary closure of Clinton Keith Rd., with Murrieta PD later explaining in a social media post, “Clinton Keith Road will be closed in both directions at the Cal Fire Station 75 west of Bear Creek Drive. Please use an alternate route to access the La Cresta area until further notice.”

Officials requested a sweeper truck and other resources to the scene around 9 a.m., due to debris blocking the lanes of travel and both vehicles were later towed and stored as evidence.

Officials updated shortly before 1:30 p.m. that the road closure would last about two more hours.

Murrieta PD’s investigation is active and ongoing at the scene and officials have not yet released any further information or details about their accident investigation.

This is a developing story that will be updated as new information is available.
