Anderson PD snatches up man who snatched purse from woman, 74
ANDERSON — A Redding man was arrested after allegedly snatching the purse of a 74-year-old woman at Anderson Wal-Mart Monday afternoon, Nov. 19. Anderson PD officers, with assistance from loss prevention officers, managed to located all the victim’s stolen property, which was returned to the grateful woman.
After an investigation, officers arrested 43-year-old Jeshua Douglas Paulk. He was later booked into Shasta County Jail in Redding on suspicion of possession of stolen property and misappropriation of property. Additional felony charges for elder abuse will also be filed with Shasta County District Attorney’s Office, according to APD officials.

Anderson PD was first alerted to a purse theft that had just occurred inside the retail store around 12:45 p.m. The victim reported her purse, wallet, and cellular telephone, were all stolen by an unknown subject wearing a red hoodie and distinctive red shoes.
“An Anderson Police Officer just happened to be nearby and quickly spotted the thief attempting to make his getaway into another nearby business,” APD explained in a social media release after Paulk’s apprehension.
After officers located and arrested Paulk they found he was still in possession of the elderly victim’s wallet, credit cards, and cash, but the woman’s purse and cell phone could not immediately be located.
As their investigation continued, officers learned an “attentive loss prevention officer” had noticed Paulk quickly duck into a business’s bathroom while trying to flee from the Wal-Mart and officials soon discovered the victim’s purse hidden inside inside the restroom.
Paulk later admitted to officers that he had ditched the victim’s cellphone in a nearby trash receptacle. Officers soon recovered the phone as well, and all the stolen property was eventually returned to the elderly victim, who was uninjured during the theft.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
