One hospitalized after two-vehicle Hemet rollover collision

HEMET — One person was hospitalized after a two-vehicle, rollover traffic collision in Hemet, Saturday evening, Dec. 1. The accident happened in front of City Nails and Spa, on E. Florida Ave., just east of Carmalita St.

City of Hemet Police and Fire Departments, along with other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the crash around 8:45 p.m., after receiving reports of a two-vehicle, rollover traffic collision.

A Hemet Fire Battalion Chief was first on scene and reported finding two wrecked vehicles blocking parts of westbound Florida Ave. The vehicles were described as a Chevy Silverado and Jeep Cherokee.

The Chevy had heavy rear-end damage and the wrecked Jeep was overturned and on its roof. Vehicle parts and debris were scattered across the roadway, blocking westbound motorists from being able to work their way past the accident scene.

Officials reported all occupants had made it safely out of their destroyed vehicles and paramedics immediately began evaluating and treating the occupants from the truck and SUV.

Witnesses at the scene later reported the Jeep plowed into the back of the Chevy, which was stopped and waiting at a red stop light at the intersection. The impact caused the SUV to careen out of control and flip onto its roof.

AMR medics eventually transported the driver of the Jeep to Hemet Valley Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The full nature and extent of the victim’s injuries was unknown.

Although the roadway was temporarily blocked by emergency personnel working around the two wrecked vehicles, the road was quickly re-opened once the overturned Jeep was righted back onto its wheels and both it and the truck were towed from the scene.

Police officials have not yet specified what led to the collision or if alcohol or drug intoxication were contributing factors in the crash and their investigation is ongoing.

Trevor’s assignments included Corrections, Patrol, DUI Enforcement, Boat and Personal Water-Craft based Lake Patrol, Off-Road Vehicle Enforcement, Problem Oriented Policing Team, and Personnel/Background Investigations. He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
