Jurupa Valley shooting leaves one dead
JURUPA VALLEY — Authorities are investigating the death of a man who was shot multiple times in Jurupa Valley Friday afternoon, Jan. 4. The fatal shooting happened in the 6000 block of Smith Ave., southeast of Limonite and Wineville avenues. Officials have said they have no suspects in custody and that there is no immediate threat to public safety, but are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating those involved in the shooting.
Press Enterprise reported the day of the incident that the victim was killed with a shotgun in a drive by shooting, but sheriff’s officials have not yet publicly confirmed that fact. (See PE social media post below.)

Deputies assigned to Jurupa Valley Police Station were dispatched to the residential neighborhood between 63rd and 64th streets about 1:30 p.m., after receiving reports of a man who had been shot, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Steve Brosche said as the homicide investigation was getting underway.
“When deputies arrived, they located an adult male victim deceased from multiple gunshot wounds,” Brosche explained. The victim’s name has not been released, pending further investigation and notification of his family.
Deputies quickly set up caution tape and designated the street and surrounding area a crime scene, as area residents watched in shock as the scene unfolded on their street. Based on the circumstances, Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit and Jurupa Valley PD investigators responded to the neighborhood and assumed the investigation, which lasted the remainder of the evening and into the next morning.
As the investigation was continuing, dozens of crime scene markers littered the roadway; as deputies, investigators, and forensic technicians searched for, documented, photographed, and collected, what appeared to be spent shell casings and other items of evidentiary value.
Officials have not yet provided any details regarding what may have led to the deadly shooting, and have provided no descriptions of the suspect(s) or vehicle they were driving when the shooting happened.
“Investigators are actively working all leads,” Brosche explained; saying, “There are no suspects in custody, and no current threat to the public.”

Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
