Motorcyclist suffers “major” injuries in Palm Desert wreck
PALM DESERT — A motorcyclist was hospitalized with “major, but non-life threatening injuries” after smashing into the back of a car this morning, Monday, Jan. 7. The crash, which remains under investigation, happened in the area of Monterey Ave. and Arboleda Dr., according to officials.

Deputies assigned to Palm Desert Police Department along with other emergency personnel responded to the crash just before 11 a.m., after receiving reports of a major injury traffic collision involving a motorcyclist and an automobile, Riverside Sheriff’s Sgt. Randy Vasquez later explained.
When officials arrived the found the seriously injured motorcyclist down in the center median of the roadway. The rider’s destroyed motorcycle and a slightly damaged vehicle were stopped nearby. Motorcycle parts and other debris were scattered across the roadway.
AMR transported the rider, who had been wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, to an area hospital. Vasquez described the rider’s injuries as “major, but non-life threatening.”
Members of Palm Desert PD’s Traffic Team assumed the investigation and determined that the motorcyclist was traveling south on Monterey Ave. at an unknown speed when it plowed into the back of another vehicle.
“The collision caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the motorcycle, and land on the center median approximately 30 feet away,” said Vasquez. “No injuries were suffered by the driver of the second vehicle.”
During their initial, on-scene investigation officials called for the temporary closure of the roadway, but it was re-opened to through traffic about two hours later.
Alcohol or drug intoxication have not been ruled out as possible contributing factors, and the Sheriff’s investigation is ongoing.

He finished his career while working as a Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Investigator and was a court-designated expert in child abuse and child sex-related crimes.
Trevor has been married for more than 28 years and was a foster parent to more than 60 children over 13 years. He is now an adoptive parent and his “fluid family” includes 13 children and 15 – but soon to be 16 – grandchildren.
